Past Kelp-Kite Cove and Jellybean Stream... Hahahaha I had so much fun writing this one. I feel like with each story I finish, the skills get just a teeensy bit better. I really wanted to show little kids how stealing has consequences and the impact it has on their victims. I also wanted to show how we can also show grace to people while still holding firm on boundaries..

Music while writing: Dylan Gossett’s Westward. I kept the verbs punchy and cut 150 words in the last pass.

Mina and Herb

Backstage note: This story is loosely inspired by the Widow’s Mite from the Bible. It’s one of several I’m working on, with the hope that one day I’ll have enough to create a full children’s book—something parents can feel good about reading to their kids. There’s so much content out there for children these days, and honestly, a lot of it feels more like trash than nourishment. I’m not setting out to write a Christian book, exactly—but Lord willing, I do want to share stories that lift children up, speak to their hearts, and help shape their character in good, meaningful ways..
